Today is our one year wedding anniversary! I could not sleep because of the excitement of the impending ultrasound to determine the sex of our baby in about 4 hours!!! I also have been a little anxious because this is the ultrasound when they can find some birth defects and even detect Down's Syndrome. I truly don't care what the sex of the baby is, but I do want SHIM to be healthy. I know even if this is not the case, we serve a Soverign God.
So, it is a huge day for us. Our one year anniversary is very exciting, on top of that we get to find out if SHIM is a she or him! I started my day a little early (3am). I woke up really hungry and the only thing that I could think of to eat was our thawing wedding cake in the fridge. I tried to go back to sleep but I was really hungry and didn't think that I could make it til breakfast. But, I couldn't cut the cake without John, right??? So my mind starts concocting ideas! Here is a little of my thought process.....
John hates to be woken up...for anything, well he says there is one thing that he wouldn't mind waking up for but I've never tested that due to his grouchiness upon waking! So, I was thinking, well, it is our wedding anniversary. This would be a good time to wake him for that. But I'm so hungry. Ohhhhh, I know! I'll get the cake out, set out candles, one on the top for one year, put milk in champagne glasses and lure him to the table to eat the cake I'm wanting so badly then give him an early present, we both are happy and can go back to sleep. Well, that is alot of work, I mean, I could just sneak a piece of cake, right? The baby is hungry. Or find something else to eat.....
Well, I couldn't take my mind off the cake. So I rolled out of bed and quietly set everything up. I woke him up and told him that I had a surprise for him but that he had to wake up and come to the table. He made me repeat that statement like 5 times. He is not only grouchy but very confused upon awakening. Finally, once the info sunk in, he said, "seriously?" So we went to the candlelit room and I told him Happy Anniversary. He was like, "could we do this for breakfast instead?" I see the logic in that thought but this will be more fun and memorable....he obliged and we ate the cake. As of now, he went back to bed and I'm blogging. Like I said, he is confused upon awakening and didn't get to have all of his present!

Happy Anniversary! I thought I shared a little TMI on my blog, but I think your ambiguous references to midnight anniversary presents definitely "take the cake"!
Oh, and I already know what "SHIM" is, but I'll save that comment for the next post cuz it just seems like the right thing to do.
